The Friends of the River Vale Library is a volunteer organization of citizens concerned with community support of our library. When you join the Friends, you'll contribute your own special skills and talents, your ability to see what needs to be done and your ideas for accomplishing things that cannot be done without Friends. You can become actively involved, or simply have the satisfaction of monetarily supporting a worthwhile cause through the Friends Annual Membership and Fund Drive (see Fund Drive letter below). The Friends group meets at the library on the 1st Tuesday of each month (except July and August) at 12:00 PM. The Program Committee provides a calendar of activities and programs for the year. For specific information on each of the programs please click on the "Programs" page or call the library at 391-2323 for information. All Friends activities and programs are sponsored by the River Vale Free Public Library.

2009 Friends Membership and Fund Drive Letter

TO OUR DEAR FRIENDS:As we begin our 2009 Membership & Fund Drive, we would like to send a sincere thank you to all of our residents who have been so supportive of the Friends in the past. Through your generosity, we have been able to successfully meet our stated mission to enhance the services of the River Vale Free Public Library through the resources of people, programming and financial assistance.

2009 PLANNED IMPROVEMENTS TO THE LIBRARY!

The library will be undergoing an interior renovation in early autumn to better meet the needs of our residents. Highlights of the renovation include: a new ADA compliant circulation desk, increased shelving and seating in the Children's Room, creation of a Young Adult area, additional conference room, quiet reading area, and improved lighting throughout the library. To support these improvements the Friends will be supplying the funding for the purchase of 8 new high-speed computers for the library.

As Friends, we meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 12:00pm in the library's Community room to plan our sponsorship of library programs, book discussions,and special projects - all of which are funded through our Annual Membership & Fund Drive. We encourage your participation, both through your financial generosity and your personal involvement. So...whether it's our lively book discussions, informative luncheon programming, special events, or fundraising activities - we invite you to attend our monthly meetings, make new Friends and participate in the growth of River Vale's center for free information and personal enrichment - your local public library.
